There is no doubt when you walk into Plaka Greek Taverna that you are experiencing authentic Greek culture. The blue and white checkered tablecloths, the paintings of Greek scenery on the wall and the friendly, outgoing personalities of the staff prepare you for the truly authentic tastes of Greece that have made Plaka Greek Taverna a popular destination. “When people first come in they say, ‘Wow, it’s very beautiful.’ It feels like you are in Greece right away,” says owner Tony Galiatsatos.
Tony opened Plaka Greek Taverna in 2000, taking over the location of an existing Italian restaurant. It was only natural for him to flip the menu to Greek and use the recipes handed down through generations in his family. “I’m Greek and that’s what I know best,” says Tony. “It’s a family restaurant. I used these recipes when I had a Greek restaurant on a Greek resort island. I’m using the same recipes.”
