Frank Keller bought his first set of tarot cards on a whim, but soon found the fortune-telling deck worked unnervingly well. “The cards were so accurate that it scared me. It gave me goose bumps all over,” he says.

Several months later, he was broke and homeless, sitting in a coffee shop. He decided to properly teach himself the art of tarot card reading. “This woman walks up and offers me 20 bucks for a reading,” says Frank. Although he professed that he had never given a reading, the woman was persistent. “I read her, and she goes upstairs, and then her friend comes down and I read her. And another friend comes down with 20 bucks.” At the end of the day, Frank left the coffee shop with a full wallet.

Shortly thereafter, he picked up a job doing psychic readings on a phone line. After he’d saved up a bit of money and performed tens of thousands of readings, he opened his own tarot reading shop.
