I started in the manufacturing industry in 2003, 20 years ago. I spent 12 years learning about, applying, and teaching lean thinking to a company of 350 people. The company was sold, shortly after I left, for ~300 million and the owners attributed lean thinking to the amazing valuation for a company started in the family garage!
