I have been offering counselling services to children and youth in B.C. for 20 years. I worked for a time on the mainland, but returned home to the Island 8 years ago with my husband to raise our son. I am honoured that you are interested in my services and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I have been described as slightly non-conventional in the counselling world, which suits me perfectly, and also tends to suit children and youth who are trying to stand up to the force of the problems in their life. I am very comfortable working with this population, and I feel fortunate that I can connect with kids and teens the way I do, conventionally or in a way that makes sense to them. I believe that people hold many stories about themselves, but when they seek me out, it is usually because they are focused on stories about their problems.I am interested in creating a space where alternate affirmative personal stories can be remembered and created, and this is accomplished in large part through the use of humour and relationship building. I really enjoy partnering with kids while they work towards positive changes in their life, and I always do so in a curious, empathic and non-judgemental way. use art, drama, and music therapies, as I encourage clients to be creative in our sessions together. Although I am focused on working with children, teenagers, and young adults, I offer family therapy as well.
I look forward to hearing from you, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have about my services.more...See more text
