For many people, starting a business is a natural progression from a lifelong passion, something they make a full-time endeavour when they spend all their free time doing it. Sharise Wedding has this passion, but the owner of K&S Dance Productions got a bit of an earlier start on the business side of dancing than most people.
“Basically, I was straight out of high school and 18 years old and I had a partner back then who came to me with the idea,” she says, “and we decided that was something we wanted to do, so we searched for a location and found Port Coquitlam was a very young and growing family area.”
If it sounds a bit simple, Sharise is quick to say she had been, in a way, preparing her whole life for that next step. “I had done a little bit of college and wasn’t really finding my niche,” she says, “and just wanted to continue with what I had done my whole life and my partner was in the same boat.” The two then started K&S Dance in 1991, with Sharise taking sole ownership of the studio ten years later.
This is a great studio! My daughter has been going here since she was three years old - she loves it - dancing has given her confidence & she has made many friends here. And the teachers are excellent!
