Since 1978, Vancouver has been home to one of the most decorated and diverse dance institutes in the country. Goh Ballet Academy and Youth Company has nurtured the careers of some of the world’s best dancers, including Alex Wong, a competitor on So You Think You Can Dance in 2009. Many local, national and international graduates of the dance studio have transitioned from student to professional and have gone on to successful careers with prolific companies around the world such as American Ballet Theatre, English National Ballet and the St. Petersburg Opera and Ballet Company.
The award-winning dance studio offers a range of programs for dancers of all ages and abilities. The Junior School focuses on educational classes for students aged four to 17 while the Senior Professional School is a more intensive training program to nurture talented young performers who are bound for a professional dance career. Goh Ballet Academy also offers three levels of drop-in adult classes for those who hope to perfect their pirouettes later on in life.
The Nutcracker has been a much-loved holiday tradition for years. From December 15 to 20, the Goh Ballet Academy will transform the stage at The Centre in Vancouver into a winter wonderland, taking audiences on a magical holiday journey. This ballet is sure to enchant audiences of all ages with its vibrant costumes, whimsical musical score and Christmas-themed setting. Tickets start at $28.
