The combination of classic Quebecois poutine and west coast innovation was formed. With hard work and a desire to be the best poutine spot. the Haji-Rasouli family worked countless late nights feeding the people to make Mean Poutine a `must eat` for tourists and locals alike.
For the inebriated, the “I haven’t eaten since breakfast and it’s now 7:00 pm” crowd, and the hot dog enthusiasts, Mean Poutine has you covered. These calorific creations are named to deliver; the Mac ’n’ Cheese hot dog is a dog topped with gooey pasta, while the Pizza Dog is (you guessed it!) a hot dog topped with pepperoni slices, mozzarella, and marinara sauce. Be warned that this is a street front space, so you’ll need to find an open bench or sit on the curb while scarfing down your meal.
They may be known for their poutine, but this late-night joint in the Granville Entertainment District serves a few mean dogs, too. From the classic all-beef jumbo dog to the more outrageous pizza dog topped with pepperoni and mozzarella or the mac ‘n’ cheese topped with — you guessed it — mac ‘n’ cheese, these fat frankfurters will definitely put the fuel in your belly you’ll need after a night out on Granville Street.
Speaking of poutine, if this Quebecois staple is whispering your name, heed the call at Nelson Street’s Mean Poutine. The small window storefront turns out plateful after plateful of heaping masses of fries smothered in gravy and squeaky cheese curds. Get creative with their various topping options: buffalo chicken chunks, Italian meatballs and mushrooms, roast beef and bacon. They even have a veggie one with grilled peppers and veggie gravy. Don’t discount their dogs either. This is classic post-bar grub.
