I try and hit up Rodney's whenever I am in Van. Located on trendy Hamilton St. it's got some serious character. Sit at the bar for a great view of the oyster shucking and some lively chat with the bartenders. Staff is friendly with plenty of personality. They have an oyster happy hour 4-6pm (if I remember correctly) where it's half price oysters. And seeing as many of the oysters and ingredients come right out of the ocean around BC the food is beyond fresh. And in case you were wondering, this place has the best selection of oysters I have seen yet. 11 different kinds on the last visit. My favorites being Fanny Bay and Kushi. Good selection of craft beer on tap too.

Rodney’s has played host to many ladies nights over the years. The restaurant is home to some of the best and friendliest servers in the city, and it boasts some of the freshest oysters in town. Go in for happy hour and try all the daily offerings.

At Rodney’s, seafood is the name of the game and oysters are their claim to fame. All that briny goodness can bring on a big thirst and there are plenty of whites that pair well with shellfish, as well as some fantastic reds from regions like California, Australia and Argentina. B.C. vintners are represented, too.
View this Smart ListWhile your first thought when it comes to finding spicy dishes in Vancouver most likely won’t be high-brow seafood, it isn’t the freshly shucked oysters themselves that pack a punch at Rodney’s. Here you’ll find a wide array of house-made sauces that range in flavour from the mildest of cocktail sauces to a three-alarm-fire version, a dollop of which will certainly do you! For a spicy and delicious meal, be sure to drop in during Low Tide (aka Happy Hour), daily other than Sunday, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at both Vancouver locations.
