It's the kind of ...

It's the kind of place you just have to experience. . . so old and retro that it's just too cool! The old-school jukeboxes are as awesome as the retro-kellogs mini-cereal-box shelf. Be sure to say hi to the backline staff on your way to the washroom. And take some time to check out to peruse some unique trinkets like the penguin jug on top of the coffee-maker. But the real reason to go here is the food. The bacon was the best ever and so were the eggs benny! There were 6 satisfied diners in our group today. From blueberry pancakes to French- toast to mangled eggs and farmers breakast, everything was great! A definite must-do and a do-over!

Bad Experience. Staff were rude and unhelpful

I was shocked how rude the staff can be. I went there several times and spent over 100 dollars. However the last time I went there one waitress who has been there a long time treated me like I never was a customer. She got my take-out order wrong and was very mean and hostile. I will not return there, not only for that reason, but this place is very expensive. A hamburger and fries and a coke cost 15 dollars.

Old School Diner

This place epitomizes 'Old School Diner.' It hasn't changed anything since the '50s, except the menu of course. I enjoy the breakfast selection and home made burgers, but my wife enjoys the solid selection of vegetarian and vegan food. The only problem is that it is fairly small so it fills up quickly.

Outrageously good ice cream sundaes in Vancouver

Outrageously good ice cream sundaes in Vancouver

A staple morning-after destination for the hung-over Granville Street crowd, The Templeton might draw you in with its hearty diner breakfast, but make sure you save room for dessert! The classic banana split is done right with multiple scoops of ice cream, fresh banana, chocolate and caramel sauce, real whipped cream and crushed peanuts. If you’re not feeling up to the full sundae, order the mini version (with just one scoop instead of four) to get your sweet fix with fewer calories.

Ring in 2017 with a New Year’s Day brunch in Vancouver

Ring in 2017 with a New Year’s Day brunch in Vancouver

The tableside jukeboxes might be perpetually out of order, but there’s still plenty of retro charm on offer at this old school Granville Street diner. Hungry downtowners crowd at the booths and barstools at The Templeton throughout the week, so you can bet it’ll be a popular destination come New Year’s Day. The menu offers traditional breakfast fare – omelettes, Bennies, pancakes, French toast – along with lunch items and nostalgic desserts. Don’t worry if there’s a bit of a wait, the service here is usually pretty snappy.

Where to find hearty chili in Vancouver

Where to find hearty chili in Vancouver

This timeless diner on Granville offers a charming retro vibe (sadly the 50’s era jukeboxes at each table are no longer in working order) and a solid all-day breakfast menu. If you’re not in the mood for eggs, you can’t go wrong with a big bowl o’ vegan chili. It might be meat free, but this savoury stew is definitely filling. Order it as a meal in itself or as a side cup. If you’re feeling really hungry, opt for the chili cheese fries; these saucy fries come loaded with aged white cheddar and a scoop of vegan chili.
