Sunset Grill is our go when we crave for a breakfast. The food always good here and come quick every time. I have visited this location and Guelph many times and never had any complaint so far.
.I have gone to this location many of times and had most good experiences. My boyfriend and I went in yesterday which was a Tuesday around 1:30pm. There weren’t many people at this location at the time. We were sat right away, once we ordered I asked for my bacon well done and our server (Nana) responded with "Yeah they make it well done"....not sure what that means none the less we got our food and my bacon wasn’t well done. When our server asked if we wanted anything we said more coffee and I also wanted water. She soon came back with coffee but no water in sight. We sat for about 20 minutes and she never returned while the other server behind us had a party of 6 and 4 other tables and she was doing an amazing job with coffee top ups and water re fills. I never ended up getting the water until I asked for it again and I asked for peanut butter for my toast but it was too cold by then to enjoy. Overall I was upset by this because it didn’t make sense that one would be so oblivious to the situation. -Melissa
In the summer of 2010 I was eating breakfast at this location and found hair in my food. I didn't think too much of it, because I know it happens - but I did stop visiting this location since I found it was a very "rushed" and unfriendly environment to eat in. But on February 12, 2012 I decided to visit this location again. When I arrived, it was fairly early and there were many tables available. An older man showed us to a table beside the door. It being February (and obviously very chilly), I asked that we could have another table that was not next to the door. Despite the many seats available, the man made a fuss and did not want to give another table. He starts explaining that there is this barrier and a heater and I won't feel the cold at all. I decided not to ask a third time, so gave up and took our seat. As I expected - there was a very cold draft every time the door opened. Once my food arrived I found hair fried into my potatoes. Since the same man who seated us was right next to our table I flagged him over. He proceeded to tell me that it was not hair, and tried to convince me it was part of the potato. My partner stepped in to tell the man it was definitely hair, but the man still disagreed and said it was okay and I should just eat it. I was disgusted!! Our waitress then came by our table, found out what was going on and offered to get me a new plate. The issue here is that the man (who I believe to be the owner) has not regard for customer service. If a customer asks not to not sit next to the door in the middle of winter and there are other tables available, the customer should be shown to another table. And if a customer finds hair cooked into their food, they should be immediately apologized to. Given this experience I do not intend to return to this location.
Second time visiting, and consistently good! I had a breakfast (again!), and hubby had burger this time. Swears it's home-made. He loved it. Last time he had some sandwich (again said it was good). Both times had the soup. Very good as well. Friendly waitress staff. Clean. Quick service. Went on a Wed for lunch. Place was packed! Will go again for sure!
Took my family visiting from Calgary to sunset this past saturday and were impressed with the both the service and food. We've tried a number of places in burlington but we keep coming back. See you again. P.S- If the owner read this. Great job with keeping the washrooms spotless.
I have gone to this establishment more than 50 times, easy. Everyone that i have gone with has loved it. in fact, im going again in a few minutes! they have my favourite homefries ever, never had better, and an extremely addictive sandwich called the sunset special! I will never stop going there!
Wow..there are some pretty negative people in Ontario! A small hair in your potatoes and you go crazy? Eggs like mush? Must have gone on an "bad hair day". We've been there many times...with a large crowd and just the two of us and we were never disappointed. The food is great, large portions, good coffee, good service. Crowded? yes...on weekends its lined up out the door. That must tell you something. Had breakfast there about 9 (Thurs. July 31st)this morning...quiet..good pancakes. Beats Mickydee's. Then again, I'm a pretty easy going guy with a load of patience (I have to be..I'm a Prison Guard).
What a train wreck. The restaurant was overheated a good 10 degrees, and it is was so crowded - tables and chairs pitched so closely together to no doubt squeeze everybody in that they could - that people constantly bumped into each other. The food was overpriced, overcooked bland, tasteless corporate schelp. Coffee was so weak it was pathetic. $9 for a single breakfast order? This is not good value for money: there are many, much better breakfast places in Burlington. Avoid this franchise nightmare.
It was a snowy afternoon when we rolled into Sunset for a bit of all-day breakfast. The food was great, the beer was cold, the patrons were colourful and the service was ... well, the service wasn't all that great actually. Just try and get some vinegar, I dare you. Eventually, after what seemed like minutes of throat clearing, frantic waving and forlorn glances, the biggest and most intimidating member of our group had to resort to desperate measures just to get someone's attention. As long as you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty and actually working for your food, I highly suggest checking Sunset out. This breakfast nook is a gem nestled in the heart of what may someday be a convenient and accessible location.
I was there with my boys Mark, Big Tony R and Rick. Mark started off with a Coors light, what a macho man! he says he can't drink regular strength beer, it gives him migrains. Anyways, the waitress wouldn't bring Mark his vinegar, he's such a baby when it comes to stuff like that and threw a hissy-fit, good thin Big Tony R flagged over another waitress and got her to bring the vinegar or else Mark woulda cried the whole time. My food was pretty delicious, there wasn't even any hair or metal wires in the food. The only other thing t onote isd that there was a pair of women eating across from us wearing matching monochromatic outfits....it was weird. Don't follow the other reviews, this is the true deal. Go tere if you like breakfast.
Nothing worse then eggs with so much shell in them that I started gag, when I told the waitress she replied,or sorry and that was it.The person taking our money just shrugged it off like it was no big deal...I will never go back there.
their dark rye bread is delicious!!! i really like their homefries as well. The place is very open and clean, it gets very busy on weekends but there aren't that many breakfast places in the area so its expected.. the staff is very friendly and i find the food to be really good. I've been there about a dozen times and have never had any complaints!cheers
The place is always busy on the weekend when we go, expect it. The food is good and for the price it's the best i've found around. To the people complaining about the burger, YOU'RE AT A BREAKFAST PLACE. They just happen to have a burger most likely for kids. Go to Kelsey's across the street or McD's if you want a burger.
Best Breakky in Burlington! Absolutely fantastic food for the price with a nice stylist open fresh decor. Can't wait for the patio to open.
I would go back to the Sunset Grill everything was great. We love to go out for breakfast and this is for sure our favourite spots in Burlington to go for breakfast by far.
The service was very friendly, the food was good and inexpensive, the atmosphere was clean. For breakfast-lunch I recommend going here. Everything went well, except the washrooms the day my family went had problems and "stuff" was leaking everywhere. That was the only downside, other than that this restaurant was perfect.
I go here all the time with friends and my husband. I love the food and always order "Eggs Sunset". I admit the service isn't great but in the defense of the restaurant I always go on a Sunday morning when they're super busy - so I can excuse the service. Oh! The one thing that I thought was stupid on the waitress' part was that they are always with hot dishes right out of the dishwasher and she handed me a hot plate of toast, it burned me and she didn't offer anything. But, I'll still go because I really like the food and thankfully I've never had anything on my plate but what I ordered. (my dishes have always been sans forgein objects).
Very cramped, felt like I was sitting at a children's table. Food was ok.
now its been said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I do agree with that and for me driving to all the way to Niagara Falls just to get a decent breakfast is no trouble for me at all but I just thought that i would stick around in Burlington for the day and just try some of the restaurants here and Sunset Grill caught my eye so I figured lets give her a try. The wait was about half an hour and the place was packed and when i finally got a table it took them 30 minutes just to take the order and another 30 minutes to serve, dont get me wrong for a place that only has 3 cooks and a full house they were doing alright except that my eggs were supposed to scrambled not over easy, my steak medium well not medium rare, whole wheat toast not rye. So everything on my order was done incorrectly and the wait staff did not even bother to come back to my table for a coffee refill but like i said it was a sunday, and it was a full house so maybe i'll return to the Grill when its not so busy and do a full out evalutaion
On Monday afternoon my girlfriend and I visited the Sunset Grill for lunch. It was her birthday and she chose that restaurant because she likes the food. She ordered a waffle and a side of eggs. I ordered the French Connection. While I was eating I noticed a small hair on a potato. I was disgusted and I took the potato off my plate and continued eating without saying anything. As I continued I moved the sausage on my plate and found a small thin shinny metal wire. It was bronze in color and looked like it came from a wire brush. The waitress came over and I showed it to her. She said she did not know what it was. She apologized and threw it away. So far I was disappointed by my meal but tried to continue with a positive mind for my girlfriend. While she was eating her eggs she pushed one to the side and found a hair under it. I told her about the hair I found and she called the waitress over. We explained what we found but the waitress was unsympathetic. She told us not to brush our hair at the table implying that it was our hair we found. The hair was neither of ours. The waitress offered to get two new eggs in replacement for the eggs with the hair and we accepted. As the meal continued I felt bad about the experience and my girlfriend complained. The waitress offered to take half off the bill and I grudgingly accepted. We finished the meal and the bill came. All we got was half off the French Connection plate. I didn't feel it was right but I left money and exited the restaurant. My girlfriend waited for the change. When the waitress came my girlfriend complained that we were only getting four dollars off when we were expecting half off the entire twenty dollar bill. The waitress replied "you always cause us problems and I don't want you to come back here". There was a previous incident where my girlfriend was swarmed with flies. She killed a few and asked the waitress to sweep them from the floor. The waitress pushed them to the corner and said she would clean them up later. I am ashamed of the experience and I thought I would let you know what is going on. Other than the atrocious customer service where we were asked not to come back, finding the wire is very concerning. The waitress said she did not know where it came from. She said there were no tools that would have left that wire. If I ate it I could have gotten injured. I do not plan to come back to the restaurant.
