Meet the owner

The Old Mill Toronto began as a tea garden and restaurant on August 4th, 1914. That’s the same day as the start of World War I. Its founder, Home Smith, touted it as a little bit of England far from England and it quickly became a de facto community centre for residents to gather.

“It was a place where everyone would come to exchange information and find out about the war,” says Natalie Bauer, the director of marketing, communications and events at Old Mill Toronto. “There was big band music so they would come and dance. It was a place for the community, and it’s always been there for that. That’s been the underlying premise behind the Old Mill.”

For more than 100 years Old Mill Toronto has been synonymous with celebrations, anniversaries and special occasions that bring people together.  It has evolved from being a tea garden, restaurant and dance hall, now offering banquet rooms, a patio bar and a hotel with 57 unique luxury rooms and suites.

“I guess our longevity is due to us changing with the times but still keeping that historical originality and purpose behind the Old Mill,” Natalie suggests. “We’ve just evolved with the times.”

Winter Wonderland

I Had a Christmas lunch today with my office colleagues. Nice selection on the buffet table hot and cold items served and plenty of desserts and easy to get to from the QWE. Nice place to take the family and enjoy the wintery scenery.

Sunday Brunch and Spa

The sunday brunch had a wide variety of selections and the taste was good. The spa services were sufficient in terms of the procedure. What i disliked about the spa is they try to sell you their products and if they received the impression that you were not going to purchae their products they did not pay any attention to you.

Great Wedding Venue

My sister just got married at the Old Mill and we had a perfect evening. Dinner was wonderful! Decoration was incredible! I do however have 2 complaints: 1) There was lots of confusion within the hotel due to the fact that there were several weddings going on at once and no signage to notify guests as to which hall we were in. 2) We were in the Brule Room and the walls were not very sound proof. During the Groom's speech we could hear music pounding through the walls from the room next to us.

Wedding

We had our wedding service at the Old Mill, they were wonderful and very helpful before the wedding getting us all set up. Any time we called with a question someone would answer us right away. The wedding ceremony and reception was wonderful. We had a great experience and everyone commented on how good the food was. We also stayed in the inn for two night and it was an amazing room with excellent service.
