We often went to the Hocky Sushi in Peterborough and we love the place so much. We recently moved to Guelph and We thought we are lucky to find the hocky sushi here. But they give us the WORST dinning experience ever: never refill the tea/water, and they are just standing there to WATCH you, EXAMINE your food, and even worse thing is, when they bring the sushi to the table they gave us a lesson on how to eat the RICE with fish together. Every piece of sushi, they put a bowl of rice with it and they asked us to eat them all. We are really upset about their service. We ends up not eating at all and going home. WE WON'T GO THIS PLACE AGAIN and WE WILL TELL ALL THE PEOPLE WE KNOW. GOOD LUCK GUELPH HOCKY SUSHI, I really pray for a new owner and some nice people around!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this place! Their sushi is actually DELICIOUS!!! I'm always full after I go here...in fact, I vomited once from being too full. I love that they have stamp cards!!! So fun!! Their signature 'hockey sushi' is seriously SLAMMIN!!! However, I discovered a fish bone in the sushi once...and upon closer inspection, I found out that the outer layer of the hockey sushi is actually fish skin! This turned me off! I wish I hadn't made that discovery because this roll is fantastic. The location is fairly remote... my GPS was going completely NUTS on the way here. Up hill, down hill, through construction zones- getting here was a journey in itself! But worth it! soooo good! SOOOOO good!!!
The service here is a bit sketchy but the food is great! So many different things to try. Have pretty well tried everything on the menu by now and haven't found anything we didn't enjoy. Shrimp tempura is yummy and all of the rolls are great too. Will def continue to visit.
Joined a friend for late lunch/early supper here. I have no complaints about the food, rather enjoyed it. The service is what would keep me from returning. We were sitting waiting for another order to be taken and we noticed all the staff took a break at the same time and had sat down to eat. I've never seen this before and this shocked me completely. We kept having to wait for our order to be taken, plates were not removed, drinks weren't refilled and had to be asked for. Brutally slow service and not very attentive. Food was atleast great and enjoyed it, but I still prefer other places for my sushi.
This place is amazing, we first discovered this little place by accident 2 years ago. We (my husband and I) took his brother and his wife, along with our 2 yr. old son here. It was great, food was amazing. The staff was very friendly, and helped us out with pronouncing the menu. The endamame are a great appetizer, really good. Also, the tea is fantastic, great food!
Our first time sushi experience and loved it, great way to try different foods and did not find anything I didn't like. Communication with staff can be tough sometimes but worth it.
I have been to this place many times and went again this weekend. Food is good, high quality sushi, a good selection of items. Service is good, sometimes a little slow. You never leave hungry, and they have the little stamp cards which is great, who doesn't love free sushi?
I have been coming to this sushi place for the last couple of months now. The food is pretty decent, and since its all you can eat, you can definatly get good value :) The ONLY problem I have with this place is the fact the sushi chefs like to make bodily noises; ie. horking up a lung and spitting a lot. It turned me off the place for a little and I decided to come back again and it seemed to have stopped.
In comparison to the other places that occupied Hockey Sushi, the decor and atmosphere is a little less traditional than the previous places, and miss the enclosed sit down booths. Hockey Sushi is reasonably priced and also they have a card where you can eat free after a certain number of times...but it would be pretty hard to fill it up. The dinner service was very friendly and prompt. The sushi was of good quality, with fresh salmon sashimi, although the white tuna a little watery. The maki was pretty good as well. The tempura was also pretty good. The Mackerel sashimi however was not good, but it was my first time having it, so I am not sure about how it is suppose to taste. Some of the tastier more expensive sashimi incurred an additional cost. Hockey Sushi is not spectacular, but that is what you can expect from all-you-can-eat sushi places, so sushi connoisseurs won't be impressed. Hockey Sushi is consistent though, with friendly service and fresh food.
I frequent a lot of AYCE sushi restaurants, mainly throughout the GTA/Hamilton area. While Hockey Sushi is a little bit of a drive for me from the Burlington area, it will definately not be my last visit. This sushi restaurant has a good variety of items on the menu. The thing that surprised me the most was the service though; the servers were very attentive and we received our orders quickly - something that doesn't happen very often at other AYCE sushi restaurants. Definately worth a try if you're in the area.
