Kylie Martin got her first taste of styling when she was setting up advertorial shoots in her previous work in promotions. Eager to learn more, she took an image consulting course at George Brown College and then worked independently as a personal stylist for a year. But everything changed when she met Jonathan Bluks during an improv class in Toronto, and later connected at an industry party. The computer scientist-turned-menswear sales associate and fellow graduate of George Brown’s image consulting program was also keen to develop his own styling business.
“The idea of working together seemed a lot more motivating and powerful than us trying to do our own thing individually,” Jonathan remembers. The two were inspired to join forces and start their own image consulting team – KYJO – in 2013.
