Well, that was a mistake

Yuk. First they hung up on me when ordering, accidental but still. Sesame chicken was dry and tasteless, battered shrimp were overdone on the outside but raw batter on the inside (oil too hot?), weird sweet and sour sauce, mushroom fried rice had all kinds of stuff in it, more like special fried rice. I avoid special fried rice for a reason, all I wanted was mushrooms! Even the egg rolls had some strange overpowering gingery type flavour. Very disappointing.

The best chinese around the area. I go Kim Seng about once a month, it takes 40min drive but thier food worth it. My faivorites are deep fried calamari or three kinds of seafood with spicy salt, dry sauteed string bean szechuan style, deboned grouper with tofu in hot pot , spring rolls etc... I always try different dishes to explore. Their food is always excellent. The staff is very friendly and nice too. I love this restaurant !

Couldn't find the pork in the mu-shu pork. All veggies and all without flvour. Crab sauce was tastless and the vegetables were next to raw. Won ton soup had odd taste. Perhaps we made a huge error in not ordering a main seafood dish

Excellent seafood

I really like this place. I go often for the lunch buffet. The lunch buffet is cheap but pretty good. Mind you, it is still buffet food, so don't get your expectations too high. Dinner is great. I ordered seafood chow mein and oysters. It was as good as anything you can get in Toronto. The taste was near-perfect. Service was a bit slow, and it's a pretty small restaurant but the food is definitely worthwhile.

Favorite Chinese Restaurant!

This place is amazing and we go almost weekly. I am very picky about my Chinese food and in the 5 years I have lived here have never found a place that I would return to twice. I absolutely love this place! They have the BEST sesame chicken and General Tao's Chicken I have ever had. We usually try something new each time we go, and maybe only once gotten something that we didn't rave about. They did recently change their egg rolls and they aren't as good as they used to be, but I love the dumplings so they are a good substitute. If you order soup, always order SMALL unless you have 6 people to feed because they are humongous! The service can be a little slow sometimes, but we just enjoy the meal and having the chance to chat. They will answer any questions you have about the dishes, and I have asked for things to be changed or left out without a problem. Highly recommend this place! :) YUM!

Restaurant was very clean, nice atmosphere, worst thing about "decor" was the plastic table cloths. Service was a tad slow, but they were very polite and helpful, and it was not a dreadful wait. Just a nice slowed down pace. Good for conversation. Shrimp rolls were quite good.The won ton soup was OK but my husband thought it was excellent. BEST and I mean BEST General Tao's Chicken I have ever had in my life! Portion sizes were very ample and prices were good. We are very pleased, we will be going back! :)

The service took forever, he brought our tea but forgot the cups, took forever to get our menu. The small soup is big enough for two and we really enjoyed that. The Hot and Sour soup is really spicy but excellent. The combo was good, spareribs were quite good. The mango shrimp was disappointing only because the shrimps still had their heads, tails and were not de-veined. So that was a lil scary.

Excellent Chinese food! I am originally from Markham (thus picky with my Chinese food) and this is the best Chinese restaurant by far in KW area (My friend's parents said this place tasted better than some restaurant in Markham - they were Chinese). The Hot and sour soup was tasty but a little too spicy for my taste. The shrimp is tasty, crunchy and perfectly cooked. Beef stew was juicy with lots of sauce. The Sweet and sour pork was done well, however, with a tad too much sauce in my opinion. The veggie was too oily and lost some of the colour. The owner personally delivered it for $40 total. The food was still steaming when we opened the boxes. There were 2 of us and split that into 2 meals.

The food is so tasty. Try the shredded chicken soup. It' like 6 bucks but you can eat it for days. The portions are huge here. The take out is awesome but the service is so good you may just want to stay in and eat.

Having moved into the Kitchener/ Waterloo area...

Having moved into the Kitchener/ Waterloo area recently from Toronto we were used to high quality chinese food. Kim Seng serves Toronto quality food and we had found only one other restaurant in the area that did the same. Highly recommended for authentic chinese food.

Excellent, tasty and authentic Chinese Food.. One of the BEST in Kitchener-Waterloo I have ate so far!! Free dinner soup and dessert on meals! GREAT and you should try it out!

Excellent restaurant, one of the best in K-W. The chinese food is relatively authentic, not americanized in any sense. The sauces are robust and spicy, the meat is tender and the fried rice is light and tasty. Shrimp are plump and packed with flavour. The lunch buffet is small (but cheap!) and very well balanced. The owners are extremely friendly, and the children are delightful. I've eaten here many times, both dine-in and take-out, and I am never disappointed. I drive across town to visit this restaurant as I find most Kitchener chinese restaurants are bland and unimaginative.

Delicious food on a cold day. The hot and sour soup is the best in Kitchener. I've visited and ordered it before. It's consistently made fresh with lily blossoms, bamboo, shrimp, tofu, egg, wood ear, etc. Most of the hot and sour soups available in Kitchener are a disappointment. Some are even made with tomatoes! The baby bok choi were perfectly cooked...crisp, but not overcooked. The portions are generous, prices reasonable and the staff friendly. We received a complimentary dessert of red bean soup. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving Chinese food.
