They have great Panzarotti.
Ordered a large 4 topping panzerotti to pick up and the employee warned me it would be 30 mintues - no problem. Apon arrival 40 minutes later it still wasn't ready until almost an hour after ordered. I live approximately 8 houses down from the restaurant and when I crack the panzerotti open, it was cold, had 3 strips of uncut bacon and veggies still raw. Called in and manager offered me a new one and delivered - awesome! Sadly the second one had raw dough and cheese hadn't even melted yet. SAD
Patron for almost 40 years. Cozy. Deep piled toppings on pizzas--not flat franchised bores.
The pizza was amazing, toppings were very fresh and abundant. I loved the panzerotti and marinara dip (though i admit it was greasy). The atmosphere was comfortable over-all, with a vintage-romantic feel. 9/10 would recommend, I'll be back for certain.
we haven't been there in years, so we thought we would order 3 Pazarotti the place was dirty and service wasnt very good and it cost $52 it was the worst we have ever tasted it was the wrong items and it was uncooked, the items were raw inside and it was like eating a spoon for of oil, all three of felt sick for a couple of day we couldn't even eat it all.. it was so gross, i have talk to a few people after, they had said the same, will never order again
Tony's Pizza has a very good reputation. And for many years, they deserved it. The panzos were famous and pizza, expensive, but awesome. I ordered panzos from Tony's religiously for many years. Then one evening, I had a problem. The panzo was undercooked, and stuffed with raw cheese. I didn't bother complaining, chalking it up to an oversight that likely wouldn't be repeated. The next time I ordered the same thing, delivery of a panzo..and reminded the person on the phone that my last order had been undercooked, and could they please ensure that it didn't happen again. They assured me it would be taken care of - it wasn't. The exact same thing happened again, and I got a panzo stuffed with raw cheese. I never ordered from Tony's again. I've often thought about it, but there is another thing that bugs me about Tony's - canned mushrooms. In this day and age, almost all other pizza places use fresh mushrooms on their pizza , the only one's that don't are cheap 2 4 1 places who serve a clientele that is more interested in cheap pizza than good pizza. I thought Tony's Pizza was supposed to be among the best in the city ? Canned mushrooms ?? In this day and age ? Sorry Tony, but you are living off your laurels and don't deliver like you used to. You are no longer among the best in London.
My husband recommended Tony's after having the best panzerotti ever there years ago. We have never had such a terrible meal . Panzarotti was tasteless and soaked in oil. The other meal was cold, barely edible and obviously just heated from frozen. The tomato sauce was weak and bitter. Very disappointing, especially considering the price. Wait staff was great.
The food has always been good at Tony's. It is good Italian food-we have been there several times and even had our wedding rehersal dinner there, but the service has been slowly going downhill. For 5:30pm on a Saturday the restaurant was 50% filled (max.) and the service was still painfully slow. Our waitress forgot to bring one of our items, she didn't ask if we wanted more water, and she didn't ask us about our entrees until we were done. Bottom line-she ignored or forgot about us the entire time. We mentioned it at the front when we paid, and they said sorry very casually like they really didn't care. The food is always good, but next time we will just order takeout so we do not have to deal with the slow and unattentive service.
Great food at Tony's! Perfect atmosphere for a double date... little tip, pizza is good for sharing ;) Service is a bit slow so don't go here if you're in a hurry
Spaghetti and meatballs unedible. Meatballs micowaved and almmost entirely filler. Returned to kitchen and was not charged, but not asked if I would like something else. Wife had Mediterranean pizza and was warned olives still had pits in them so be careful??????? Four slice pizza and took two slices home and threw them out. Menus were dirty with wrinkled plastic covers. Can a restaurant be this bad and survive. Unfortunately it seems like it can!
Tony's had been our go to place in the city, for more than 30 years, best sauce, pizza, panzerotti, recently, very disappointing, the sauce especially, like watered down catsup, what happened? Do the owners read the reviews? If the food is great almost everything could be forgiven, but the waitress agreed that the quality of the food had changed, the manager that evening disagreed that the food is made according the recipe??!!! I even asked him if he had tasted it, he said it tasted fine!!! I then knew, he had lost his sense of taste or was lying to me. Sadly, Tony, if you're out there, please, change it back, or you've lost another life long client, and hundreds of future clients I'll never be able to recommend Tony's again.
I've been to Tony's twice now, and each time its been awesome. I ordered the Panzerotti's each time.... soooo good, and it comes with a giant bowl of tomato sauce for dipping. The panzerotti's are actually so HUGE that no one in my party could finish their's, and had to take home leftovers. The atmosphere is cozy if not slightly "rustic" italian. Cost was under $20 for each person. Overall a great restaurant (they've been there since 1961 apparently), and I will definitely be back for some more panzo's!
I have been to Tony's twice and disliked it each time. I don't know what all the hoopla was about the panzerotti's because they were disgusting. You have to get it deep fried and your basically swallowing grease barf! The second time I was there I ordered lasagna and it was the worst I ever had. first off it was cold. I put my fork in it and the whole pile fell over and all the cheese came off and the noodles were slippery and the sauce was running everywhere. Lastly they are expensive I mean 15.00 on the worst lagsana ever i could have made one myself for cheaper and I bet it would have been better too
I have been to Tony's many many times. It is one of my favorites for many reasons. First are the panzos. I haven't actually had anything else as they are so good I never tire of them. They are fried however, not baked, so be prepared to hit the gym the next day. I also love the decor. It is classic dive. I feel like members of the rat pack are going to pop out from the kitchen at any moment and serenade me during my meal. If you are looking for linen napkins and diet food, look elsewhere. This is a place where you can go, for 15$ get dinner, a glass of wine and have some of your food to take home and have later.
My girlfriend and I love Italian food and have been searching the city for a great panzerotti/calzone. We've only heard great things about Tony's famouse panzerottis so we checked it out. First of all the decor feels like it is 1971 and if you are unlucky enough you'll sit in the back room which seems to be some sort of bomb shelter with absolutely no windows. For some reason the place was PACKED and it took at least an hour for food to be serviced. When we finally got our panzerottis, we were highly disappointed. They were quite large but super deep fried and disgusting. I actually felt sick watching all the fat people scarf them down. We ate half of ours each and took off instantly.
The date of our experience may be off by a couple weeks. After waiting one hour, the panzerottis arrived undercooked. The cheese was still cold and obviously not melted. There was a lot of pepperoni in the one panzerotti, but it was all in one corner. My son and I were sharing this one, so we had to split the whole thing open and rearrange everything. Then we threw both into the microwave. When we called to complain, they offered to send two more over in about one hour. We had ordered in because we had a hockey game to go to and couldn't wait. They refused to give us any money back, even if we returned them uneaten and then they hung up on my wife. We sent a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and they have not responded to it. They now have an "unsatisfactory record" with the BBB.
