The Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors – Ontario (CIQS – Ontario) was founded in 1974 when the earlier Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) – formed in 1959 – was restructured. The current structure follows the pattern employed by other Canadian Professionals – Architects, Engineers, Lawyers and the like – by maintaining a strong organisational and disciplinary body within the Province.In 2012, the Ontario Institute of Quantity Surveyors (OIQS) was renamed the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors – Ontario (CIQS – Ontario) in accordance with the national rebranding strategy.
