Ok, so we were so excited to receive our Family Package from the Sheraton on the Falls which included a $40 dining card for the Fallsview Restaruant.
Upon arriving at the restaruant I showed the card to the host and he told us that it only applied to a family of "2 adults and 1 child". But, he would give us $20 off our meal if we chose the buffet. I asked how much it would cost for each of us (me and my child) and was told it would be $20 each for the buffet. That, in itself wasn't a bad deal, I thought, after looking at the food selections at the buffet. (Note: the prices are nowhere to be found in writing when you arrive to the restaruant, and its all verbal).
We were brought to a table right next to the window overlooking the falls. What a spectactular view!!! My kid and I were psyched and the waitress came to take our drink orders and sent us on our way to the buffet.
I liked the fish section and some of the salads while my kid got the freshly made raviolli with a white sauce, chicken fingers (dry) and a slice of pizza (tasted frozen). The selection is not even close to the Mandrian's (in quantity and quality). It's really just like any restaruant that is a chain and has a buffet
After dinner we went to the dessert section and the first plate I took had something mushy yucky on the bottom that covered my palm. When I turned it up it was leftover cake!!!! DISGUSTING! A server immediately took it from my hand but didn't bother to get me a napkin or something to wipe it off! GAH!
When the bill came, I was surprised to see it cost $38 for the adult buffet and $18 for the kid's and that even with the $20 off the total came to $48!!!! I went to the manager and explained what the host had said about it being $20 each and was told my information was wrong, but "If you come for breakfast tomorrow, I will do something special for you and your child". ?????? Naw. I think NOT!
Needless to say, this was not the best experience in a 4-star hotel restaruant that we've had and definately not worth the money - even if its in Tourist Trap Niagara Falls and everything is ridiculously overpriced.
