Your hostess is the person that greets everyone who walks in the door and she had the worst attitude! I realize she's only like 16 or so (braces), but she should know that sarcasm and an attitude are not the way to go when all we asked is to be seated at the table beside the one she wanted us seated at. I figure she's somebody's daughter, because there was another woman helping seating us who didn't say a word against the brat. Great food, but the worst first impression.
The food is good however the portion size is very small considering the price you pay for a meal. The service started out good however we waited 45 minutes after finishing the main course before being attended to. At that point we decided to skip dessert and coffee.
I had the scallops which had pistachios crusted on the top in a lovely salad. They were wonderful! The restaurant inside was very warm so we ate on the patio and I felt like I was eating on the edge of a jungle. It was wonderful. They decanted our wine and we were treated well. I still want to purchase their wine goblets.
My gf and I went here recently and the service, food, and atmosphere was exquisite for lunch. The cream of mushroom soup was one of the best I've ever had and the pulled pork sandwich was delicious (although there is a bit of a kick to it). I loved the open kitchen concept and the waitress was very attentive and polite. Overall, this is one of the best restaurants in Niagara, I would have to say.
We recently moved into the Niagara region and have been searching out good restaurants. A local farm owner suggested that the best pizza in the area could be found here. So my wife and I and another couple visiting from Ottawa dined there last night (Sunday, September 27th, 2009). The atmosphere was terrific and the service as well. Our appetizers were very delicious. I had a (special for that evening) Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash soup which had a very unique and wonderful flavour. The pizzas were outstanding. We had three different pizzas between the four of us and tasted each other’s pizzas and the verdict was unanimous … the pizzas were all as good as any we have ever had. The price range we flagged does not include wine. We had two bottles of a wonderful Malevoir Pinot Gris ($39/bottle) which brought the dinner for four to about $200. As new citizens in this area, we will definitely be back again.

i came to niagra on the lake with my family for a nice vacation. we ended up going to this nice resturant called The Old Winery Restaurant. as soon as we walked into the restaurant we felt a nice cool breaze & smelt amazing food cooking.!. My one daughter hates sea food , so we orderd her a pizza. And the rest of us enjoyed yummy atlantic chard, sea muscles , chicken & garlic soup. They bread they make is soo soft and moist. & they make there pizza on a woods burning stove so the crust is cooked perfect. there is only 1 word to discribe this resturant, and that is AMAZING. i would come back to this place in a heart beat.
Was very impressed with the Old Winery Restaurant. Really liked the atmosphere and the meal was unbelievable! I was with a large group and highly recommend the gnocci, calamari, bruschetta bread, crab cakes, jerry garcia pizza & beef serloin (We picked off eachothers plates a little, everything looked so good!) I loved my Atlantic Salmon (Catch of the day) but when I come back I am definatly getting the Beef Serloin !!! My only issue was that the menu didn't state anything about "auto-gratuity" and our server didn't inform us that they had done that. I noticed the addition, but 6 of the 8 did not, and significantly over tipped (20% tip on top of the already charged 15%). Even though our waiter was very good, you should ALWAYS tell your tables when you are adding things to their bill, ESPECIALLY if it is not stated anywhere in the restaurant or on the menu. Be sure to check your bills for this if you go there.
Everything was freshly prepared and served promptly, politely and with good humour. We would recommend this place to anyone.
What a fantastic restaurant. We lucked out and hit their tapas night. We had a caesar salad and a winter greens salad with roasted pears and blue cheese. Next we each had a tasty pizza - on flatbread - that was beyond description. To top it off we each had a pasta dish that in itself was sublime. I wish we lived closer so we could go more often. I look forward to our next visit.
My dining experience was great. The service was friendly and efficient. I had the opportunity to try a bottle of the Deans List Sauvignon Blanc. The wine list has a wide variety of Niagara wines and if you are like me, it provided an opportunity to start trying the regions offerings. The food was incredible especially for its price point. I will definitely be pushing to go to Old Winery again next time we are in town.
The food is great. The service is very good, too. I like this place a lot and I'll be going back soon. I'l tell my friends to go there, too.
We are locals and we have been gouged. The food was substandard. They did not offer anything to rectify the situation. The wives split a pizza & a salad after one meal was returned as unedible. This bill came to $200. for 4 people and was completely over-priced. The waitress recommended that we go to another restaurant because she believed we were still hungry.
Took my wife for our anniversary. We sat on the big Patio which was nice. The food was great! Service wan't bad, but I would definitely go back.
I would love to transport this delightful restaurant home with me - fresh and delicious 'creative' wood oven pizzas, nice range of wines - smart, friendly, courteous service. She was fun! Priced right and easy to relax in. You won't be disapointed!
The Old Winery was a fantastic dining experience for the four of us. The food was prepared fresh and the servings were more than enough. The ambiance was great and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Great value for the price and worth the trip to Niagara On The Lake. We will definitely be back for more this summer!!! Great wine list and affordable prices.
The Old Winery was FANTASTIC. We were thrilled to find this place when we visited Niagar-on-the-Lake and then discovered the chef is Tony Delucca! The food was amazing. Super freshly prepared and perfectly seasoned with a perfect balance of flavours. The prices were extremely reasonable and really surprising for such 5 star food. The atmosphere is really great - large but familiar - everyone clearly having a wonderful time. We will be back and would be regulars if we lived in NOTL! Congrats to Tony!
