Meet the owner

After years in the beauty industry, Orli Levy decided it was time for a change. In 2009, she launched Short & Sweet Cupcakes — a cozy sweets shop that makes cupcakes, custom cakes and Sammies, cookie sandwiches with luscious buttercream in the middle. “I love creating new flavours, new products and decorating,” says Orli, speaking from her Avenue Road location. Two years after the first shop opened, she started a second location in Maple, Ontario.

What was Orli’s inspiration for opening the business? It came from family, she says. “I’m coming from a home where my mother was baking all the time,” she explains. “When I was looking for a business, my daughter said, ‘How about cupcakes?’” After that, research and a whole lot of baking and experimenting followed. The rest is history.

    Amazing Cupcakes!

    My one and only destination for cupcakes! Too many flavours to choose from keep me coming back once a week for almost 2 years now! After searching for what seemed like years, for a good cupcake bakeshop, I stumbled upon Short & Sweet and the tart yet sweet Key-Lime cupcake that made me a believer. It all started with a mini cupcake sample that they so generously provide to all (to get you hooked!) and that small taster turns into a dangerous addiction! SO many great flavours and helpful staff definitely don't hurt and the product is truly amazing. The place actually smells like fresh baked goods and icing sugar!! I mean, common, who doesn't feel weak in the knees after a whiff of fresh baked cupcakes!
