NEVER go to this place! The waitress is awful, overcharges and does not pay attention to her customers! She added tip to our party of two, and when we told her we wanted to add our own tip, she brought up "poor students" and how they SELECT the people whose bills they add the tip to! The food is average if you have nowhere better to go but dealing with the waitress is not worth it!! I seriously wonder how they're still in business considering the waitress is so brutal to deal with, i have no idea how they have customers.
We go to Osaka because unfortunately it is the ONLY sushi in downtown Oshawa.
The food is very good and fresh. The same guy makes it for us every time is consistent and very good. However, the waitress is a walking nightmare. She deliberately delays giving us the AUCE sheet & picking up our order.
She is in attack mode as soon as she sees us. Every visit she makes up a new rule, and as we abide newly created rules, she continues to yell at us and impose a new rule every visit. Ie We are only allowed one sheet with our full order all at once & a second for extra & that’s it – so much for AUCE.
Note: The fried stuff comes first. The more expensive ie sushi comes very very last after a lengthy wait and we only get half what we ordered. As a result, we don’t know if they forgot or if they are setting limits or if we should even ask. So then we ask about it and we get yelled at.
She goes to other tables first, deliberately making us wait for long periods unnecessarily, making our lunch extend up to 2 hours! We end up leaving and we hadn’t even got our complete order from the 2nd sheet & we’d been there 2 hrs, mostly waiting – note 50% of the tables were empty so the restaurant was not busy. She ignores our pleases’s & thank you’s and rips the AUCE order sheet from my hand very rudely without a word. It is quite comical and truly unbelievable. This person has no business working with people. I second BobbyG – most definitely the RUDEST WAITRESS EVER.
Of all the bad waitresses I have had in my life, this lady who works at Osaka takes the cake as the worst.
I came in today with several friends to have the all you can eat lunch, and was pleased when I walked in by the smell and great looking sushi. My friends, who have been there many times, told me how good it was so I was excited to get eating. Soon after we sat down the waitress came over and began yelling at one of my friends who apparently left half a sushi worth of rice behind at his last visit and wanted to be paid the $1 to cover its cost. After a few minutes of back-and-forth, the waitress agreed to let it slide and we began ordering and eating.
The food was quite good, definitely the best tasting sushi I've had in Oshawa.
When we finished, however, is when the problems started. The friend of mine who had the earlier issue decided not to tip because he was upset. This set-off the waitress to the point that she threatened us if we did not tip her. She refused to ring through his bill without a tip and began telling us how "in Canada, you have to tip". Being quite turned-off by this, I informed the lady that I would also not be tipping due to this rude behavior. This further enraged her and she began demanding a tip of at least 15%. After telling us it was the Law and Proper to tip in Canada and her now screaming at our group, I offered to call the police to settle the issue. Not wanting this, because she clearly was in the wrong, she quickly rang through our individual bills. Never before have I experienced a waitress so rude or pushy in my life.
I will not be visiting Osaka again, despite good food, and will be advising all of my friends to follow suit.
I work just down the street & have eaten there many many times! It's always so fresh & so yummy! Def one of my fav places for sure! Love the avocado & peanut roll mmmm & the sweet potato roll. It's always busy and always fresh and delcious! Loved reading the other reviews & hearing what other things I can try from there. You will def love it there. As another person mentioned the decor leaves alot to be desired but the food totally makes up for it! Enjoy!
I've never tried sushi before coming to Osaka now I can't stop coming here. Osaka is amazing. Excellent food,service,price. I would suggest everyone try the Osaka roll it's amazing. Best sushi in gta in my opinion. Thanks Tim.
I've been here a few times now and the food is delicious! We love that they have unagi (eel) without cucumber on their lunch menu. Their menu doesn't have a huge variety, but it contains all the sushi we enjoy the most anyway. Definitely worth checking out.
Osaka is by far my favourite place to eat.
The Beef Negimaki is amazingly tender and just melts in your mouth. Their tempura is always very light and fluffy. I’ve just recently tried the Garlic Cube Steak and it was exquisite. All of the sushi is expertly rolled and tasty. I’m torn between Godzilla and Tiffany rolls being my current favourites. Although all the rolls are well worth trying.
They have something for everyone from Teriyaki Chicken to Sushi Pizza. I still find myself ordering Eel
Pizza at least once a week.
You can not go wrong with dessert either: (Tempura Oreo is my personal favourite)
I can not think of one thing on the menu that I didn’t enjoy thoroughly and I’ve eaten most everything on the menu at this point.
I ate there yesterday and I will most likely eat there again tomorrow. There is always another flavor to try or revisit.
I always feel welcome. Even when I can’t decide what to eat that day.
