In August 2013, Marie-Therese Gummer opened the Port Perry School of Music with the goal of instilling a love of music in children. She believes everyone needs to be exposed to music, and tries to make the atmosphere of her school as fun and welcoming as possible. Classes start at 30 minutes for the youngest children, who range from 18 months to two years of age for the PianoTotts program, and go up in time from there based on the student’s interest and skill level.
At Port Perry School of Music, students can study just about any instrument they’re interested in, whether it’s piano, guitar or violin. They can even integrate their favourite instrument into a homework program.
