Like most vintage storeowners, Stacey Collrin is tight-lipped about where she sources her stock. But the proprietor of Siberia Vintage will reveal this much — it’s not from the standard nearby estate sales, thrift shops or buy-the-pound warehouses. Instead, her buying trips require a passport and a plane ticket. “I fly out about once a month,” she says. “And then I bring everything back in.”
It’s not her first time filling a shop with vintage finds. After a year of operating her first store, Odd Finds General Store in Bloordale Village, Stacey handed the reigns over to her sister Danielle. She opened her Queen Street West location in January 2015 after deciding that it was time to duplicate Odd Finds’ success, with some key differences.
“I have more of a collection here,” explains Stacey. “The other shop is mismatched and quirky. But here it’s mainly vintage clothes, with a minimalist approach.”
