“As far back as I remember, I’ve always been a very sociable person. When I was little, if I saw another kid get ostracized or bullied in the schoolyard, I would befriend them and integrate them into our group. I always had this desire to help each and every one of us find our place and successfully integrate with a wide variety of groups,” confides Marie-Pascale Deegan, a social worker who works closely with children and their families.
Marie-Pascale helps families take on the challenges of life, find balance, identify their goals and implement strategies to achieve them. “My goal is to help people live fulfilling lives,” she says.
Issues surrounding grief in children are central to Marie-Pascale’s work; she has even published a book, Selma et son étoile de mère, to broach the topic in a child-friendly format. “It’s often a huge hurdle for a child, and so it’s important to accompany her in the process,” she explains.
Marie-Pascale also helps children who are suffering through their parents’ separation, or are experiencing difficulties with social integration, as well as families at grips with lacking dynamics.
