Galerie Boutique DadaDo is the brainchild of Danielle Domon, an actor by training and entrepreneur at heart. “I paint a lot, all sorts of paintings,” she explains. “My original idea was to open a space that could serve as a gallery where I could choose what I want to put up, without the pressure of conventional galleries. I wanted to do things my way, set up my own little universe, express myself and share my vision through the space. I also wanted it to be a sort of gathering space that would be a hybrid of café, boutique and art space.” And since June 2013, Galerie Boutique DadaDo has been just that.
“And while I have always been attracted to the arts, social enterprise is also dear to my heart; I am motivated by deeply rooted values of solidarity and equality, and it was important that my business reflected this,” says Danielle. To honour these values, she works with persons who are differently-abled, with whom she spends a great deal of time. “I have movie nights with them, for example, and we work to integrate them in the workforce.” In addition, part of their profits go towards our community involvement.
