Meet the owner

It's rare for employees to buy the shop or business that they work at. Yet, this was the case for Luc Séguin and Benjamin Barker, who became owners of the luxury diner Patati Patata, at the corner of Rue Rachel and Boulevard Saint-Laurent, after having worked there for over 10 years. Although it wasn't their initial intention to buy the place, when they began working there, they couldn't help but want to own it. “When I got here, after only one month, I knew that one day it would become my restaurant,” says Luc. “I literally fell in love with the place.”

Luc and Benjamin have not only gained work experience and entrepreneurship at Patati Patata, but they literally grew up there. “My business partner and I arrived as teenagers at Patati Patata and we became men there,” adds Luc.

Whole in the wall...

Whole in the wall on Saint-Laurent. If you want a quick bite on the go, the food is good and the price is right.

Sample Montreal’s best pre-concert dining spots

A tiny but beloved space at the corner of Boulevard Saint-Laurent and Rue Rachel, Patati Patata bills itself as a "Friterie de Luxe" and makes up for its humble premises with a lot of heart. Come for simple but delicious fare like the burger or hot dog "du peuple" (the people's hot dog). The fries are delicious, too. Plus, there's beer on the menu and a tofu sandwich, if meat is not your thing.
