Vancouver brunch spots for morning mimosas

What’s better than brunch you ask? A boozy brunch of course! Decadent plates of eggs Benny and pancakes are even more indulgent when accompanied by a mimosa. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to an effervescent blend of fresh-squeezed orange juice and sparkling wine or champagne. If you want to start your morning with a bit of fizz, these Vancouver breakfast spots are doing our favourite daytime cocktail just right. Bottom’s up!

West Oak Restaurant

1
1035 Mainland St, Vancouver, BC V6B 5P9

An after-dark hotspot for the well-heeled denizens of Yaletown, West Oak offers great value for daytime drinkers who are looking to get plenty of bang for their buck when it comes to bubbles. Visit for brunch on Saturday and Sundays and enjoy $5 mimosas made with OJ and prosecco. In keeping with the name, the food menu is packed with West Coast flavours showcased in egg dishes (omelettes, Benedicts, skillets), salads and sandwiches. With plenty of seating and a cool vibe, this fashionable restaurant is a great option for a large group – and yes, you can even make reservations.

The Acorn Restaurant

2
3995 Main St, Vancouver, BC V5V 3P3

You might not think a vegetarian restaurant could excel at boozy cocktails, but this Mount Pleasant fave likes to break the rules. The Acorn’s daytime sippers are inventive and intoxicating, making them ideal guilty pleasures to enjoy alongside meat-free brunch dishes. The straight-up mimosas deliver a refreshing medley of fresh-squeezed OJ, sparkling wine and dry Curaçao liqueur. For something a little out-of-the-ordinary, try a pear-based variation made with sparkling wine, spiced pear and sage puree, and candied sage. Alternatively, go for a citrusy Campari-based mimosa made with St. Germain elderflower liqueur, lemon curd, sparkling wine and bronze fennel.

Café Medina

3
780 Richards St, Vancouver, BC V6B 3A4

It’s impossible to write a list about Vancouver brunch destinations without mentioned Medina, the perpetually packed daytime joint known for its lavender lattes, Liege-style waffles and ultra long line-ups. If you’ve waited over an hour for a table at this downtown café, chances are you’re gonna need a cocktail to take the edge off once you finally sit down. Medina’s signature Mimouna No.1 is a Moroccan spin on the traditional mimosa made with sparkling wine, orange juice, house-spiced honey, Amaro Montenegro and pink peppercorn shell. Exotic and spicy, this sophisticated drink is definitely worth the wait.

The Distillery Bar + Kitchen

4
1131 Mainland St, Vancouver, BC V6B 5P2

Four words my friends: bottomless mimosas for $10. That’s right: The Distillery serves unlimited refills on your champagne-and-orange-juice morning wake-up call for just 10 bucks. If you’re planning to booze hard during Sunday morning brunch, this trattoria in Yaletown is the place to do it. Grab a spot under the red-and-white awning on the sprawling heated patio and plan to get your money’s worth. Of course, you’ll need some food to soak up all that fizz. Luckily the breakfast line-up features a tasty roster of egg dishes and casual Italian comfort foods like flatbreads, hero sandwiches and pasta.

Yolks Restaurant

5
546 Broadway W, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1E9

This beloved food truck recently opened a full-sized restaurant at Broadway and Cambie, making it even easier to get your hands on perfectly poached eggs throughout the day. Unlike the grab-and-go truck, the brick-and-mortar location is licenced, which means you can pair Yolks’ signature build-your-own breakfast dishes with boozy delights. Easy-drinking mimosas with sparkling wine and orange juice are available in 6 oz. or 12 oz. glasses, or a 34 oz. jug to share with friends. Alternatively, opt for a manmosa, a freshly squeezed glass of OJ served with a Jerkface 9000 beer from Parallel 49 Brewing on the side.

Fable Kitchens Ltd

6
1944 4th Ave W, Vancouver, BC V6J 1M5

Fable’s famous Boozy Brunch happens on the last Sunday of every month and is a can’t-miss event for mimosa fans. The Kitsilano restaurant’s monthly event features half-priced brunch drinks from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm. Mimosas are made with sparkling Italian prosecco and your choice of orange or grapefruit juice. While discounted drinks might only happen once a month, the stellar brunch line up is available every Saturday and Sunday. Chef Trevor Bird serves up some of the city’s best farmhouse fare – think steak and eggs, pulled-pork Johnny cakes, and eggs Benny drizzled in creamy olive oil hollandaise.

The Union

7
219 Union St, Vancouver, BC V6A 2B2

Given its creative South Asian menu, it’s no surprise that this hip Strathcona haunt prepares its mimosas with a unique recipe. A vibrant blend of prosecco, lychee juice and candied chilli – these morning cocktails deliver a spicy-yet-sweet sensation that’ll have you ordering another round. To eat, The Union’s fusion-style weekend brunch includes bao bun Bennies, a bánh mì breakfast sandwich, and a sweet Filipino-style French toast featuring pandesal bread rolls topped with caramelized Asian pears and toasted coconut.

L'Abattoir Office

8
242-209 Carrall St, Vancouver, BC V6B 2J2

Brunch at L’Abbatoir is an indulgent affair: take a seat in the slick interior and start with fresh-baked pastries (look for servers roaming with heaping baskets of viennoiserie) followed by hearty meat-forward breakfast dishes that’ll keep you satiated ’til dinnertime. When it comes to cocktails, bartenders specialize in the unexpected. You could have a straightforward mimosa, but we suggest sampling a tantalizing Broken Sbagliato (a riff on the “broken Negroni” concept) made with sparkling wine, Aperol, Cocchi Rosa and grapefruit juice. Sweet and citrusy, this boozy beverage goes down quickly so be sure to pace yourself.
