Piles of cured meats lay next to several cheeses, dips and slices of freshly cut bread. Meanwhile, several cocktails frame the charcuterie board. It's typical night at Cured, but it's probably not what you'd generally expect from a restaurant.
Rather than serving your usual appetizers, mains and desserts, Cured focuses on presenting charcuterie platters that are really more of an experience than a meal, says co-owner Joti Dhanju. “It's a very social environment; it's a slow paced eating experience. It's like an event,” says Joti.
Cured Wine Bar is a popular dinner and brunch spot located in Ellerslie. It provides patrons with varied and versatile charcuterie selections, killer eggs Benedict and toothsome snacks like deviled eggs, arancini, chicken wings, gnocchi and, best of all, popcorn! Their gluten-free flavours include sriracha bacon butter, crispy house cured bacon and cracked pepper.
Charcuterie and wine bars are becoming commonplace in Edmonton but this is the first to open this far south – just off of Ellerslie Road, only minutes from South Edmonton Common. There are more than 50 vinos to choose from, as well as locally-sourced veggies, cured meats and artisanal cheeses. In addition to their charcuterie boards, which features items such as chipotle jerky and maple duck mortadella, they offer small and large plates, plus desserts. Items like sriracha bacon popcorn and spicy honey lime goose make this menu stand out.
