The worst service I have ever seen. We asked for a chilly fish & they gave chilly panner, after we complained they realised they changed our order with a take out order. Luckily the person who ordered Panner didn't eat fish. And no one notified about the kitchen close, when we ordered second time she said the kitchen is closed already, and we asked she said it is in their website. The worst part is the irresponsible answer from the owner.

Great Indian Food

One of my favourite Indian restaurants is Diwa in Guelph, Ontario. The food is exemplary and the spiciness mingles in your mouth leaving you wanting more. Well the Taj Mahal in Moncton now takes the crown of the best Indian restaurant I've eaten in since leaving Guelph. The butter chicken was cooked to perfection. The naan is fabulous! And the spicy lamb with veggies glowed hot but manageable as we sopped it up with the wonderfully cooked plain white rice. Mmmmmm...my mouth is still watering thinking of those Indian spices!

I love this restaurant. I live almost a 2 hr drive from Moncton but I make sure to stop in and eat there any time I get near. The dal makhani is the best I've ever eaten, and almost everything else is superb too. The only thing I did not find excellent, oddly enough, is their self-proclaimed "signature dish" of butter chicken. I felt perhaps it had NOT had 24 hrs to sit and marinate, it was "tomato-y" more than creamy. The naan is good, the chana, the curries,

Good Choice for Supper.

This was a very good meal in a nice restaurant. Although there were several tables already reserved and numerous other customers, luckily for me there were open tables as well. I scanned the menu and decided to have something I'd never had before. Gotta try new stuff from time to time, no? As a starter I had the Onion Bhajji, sort of an onion fritter; it was served with a semi-spicy and very tasty mango chutney, and overall was very good. The main course arrived not long after I had finished the appetizer. I had had a beef vindaloo before, but never lamb, and was really looking forward to it. It came with a large naan bread, which was very tasty and had a nice texture to it. The vindaloo itself was very good, and the lamb pieces were succulent and well-marinated. There is always a "but", however; the lamb itself had very little taste of lamb! It could have been beef. Perhaps it was TOO well-marinated. I did find, however, that the whole thing was just a bit overwhelming to the tastebuds; lots of flavor, to be sure, but it just didn't let up. This was a rather heavy meal, one which would be perfect— or close to it— in the depths of winter, but I found it a bit much for an autumn evening. Service, ambience, décor, it was all excellent, and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes south Asian cuisine. I don't often get to Moncton, but I would definitely come back to the Tajmahal.

Perfect!

This restaurant has - bar none - the best tasting curry chicken I have ever eaten. I and many of my friends continue to frequent this restaurant for lunch given the exceptional quality and value of the lunch platter. I've eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants and have acquired somewhat of a disciminating taste for Indian food. This restaurant continues to be the bar of measure against all others. Also has a lovely Indian decor. Exceptional!

Probably the best South Asian food you can hope...

Probably the best South Asian food you can hope to find in Moncton. Service was slow at times -- but entirely forgivable considering our party was 14 people and there was one server for the entire restaurant; she even made individual bills for everyone. Minor flaws included overspiced biryani that obscured subtle flavors (too heavy on chile, even for native South Asian) and twice as much salt as there should have been in the lassi. Overall, a good, satisfying meal at a restaurant worth repeat visits. 7.5 to 8.
