I am a local. Truthfully, we havn't eaten at the Bruce in over 6 years. We just didn't like the atmosphere inside for our family. Recently, I heard from a friend that it's improved greatly. So, we decided to give it another try.
Our family went for wing night. We LOVED IT! Wings are big, plump & juicy. The saucy ones (medium & hot) weren't over sauced-just right. The dry rub ones (cajun rub) were delicious! Our daughter ordered chicken fingers & fries. They were not processed chicken fingers; but the real deal-always love to see that. The fries are awesome-FRESH CUT!! Our son ordered the mini burgers & chips. They were yummy! You can't beat homemade burgers.
My only complaint (reason for 4 stars) would be that the waitress could've been a little more attentive. She didn't smile much and at times we wondered if she forgot about us. That being said, it didn't spoil the meal by any means.
We all agreed that we'll be back. Can't wait to go back for kids eat free Sunday. It was so much better than going to our "chain" restaurants. This was all freshly made & delicious. We're so glad we gave the Bruce another try, this is our new favorite supper spot in town.
We found hair in our food, and they decided to give us a 20% discount on the meal rather than taking the item off the bill!
Service was very slow, and the table and area was not clean! Dead insects on the window sill!
Big changes and improvements at The Bruce in the last year. New menu and now new decor. Same great service. One of our favourites whenever we're in town, especially if we can get out on the patio (expect a line up during summer months, best vista on the Lake Huron shoreline!). Affordable, good tasting and pleasant atmosphere.... worth the trip.
This has to be the worst restaurant I've been to in ages. It is apparent that organization, cooking abilities, server training, and morale is horribly lacking at The Bruce. If it wasn't for the fantastic view from the patio, I doubt people would ever return.

The had a sign out front advertising buttered chicken, tai chicken and curried chicken. We get inside and are told there is no chicken and no fish & chips and no mussels. Guess what we order off menu WRONG, 2 orders of " haystack " 1 rack of ribs, 2 orders of wings and 1 filley medium- well. 1/2 hr later they come back and say only enough wings for 1 order so it was 1 wing order and1 burger. 1hr later the haystacks showed up, 10 min later the burger, then the ribs that the menu said was slow roasted all day had to be chewed off the bone and the filley was still bleeding and he bacon wrap on it was only half cooked. the orders were not sent back because we didn't have an hour and a half to wait again OH AND THE WINGS CAME WHEN WE WERE READY TO LEAVE. 1 hr and 45 to cook wings pretty good alledged chef EH and they place wasn't busy. Saw 2 table come in after us get served before one was 5 of salmon steake and one of bergers etc
I went there even though I had said I would never go back. First the waiter comes up and tells us they are out of almost everything. Then he left with out asking us hwat we wanted for drinks and didn't come back for twenty minutes. So we just left.
The Bruce is a great casual spot to go when visiting Kincardine. The patio has a splendid view of Lake Huron (check out all the sailboats on club night). The wings are wonderful, the service pretty danged good, and the owner-operators are conscientious and courteous. Just remember when you're sitting in such a historic seat, dining out is an experience - if you want drive-thru service, go to a drive-thru!
I have never went to a restaurant happy and comed out piping mad in my entire life until I visited this absolute joke of a restaurant. We ordered ribs and the waiter returned a half hour later to tell us that they didn't have any. So we ordered steak which tasted like it was cooked shortly after easter. It was overdone hard and tasteless. Our waiter also informed us that our appetizers (potato skins) was also not available. What restaurant runs out of potatoes especially when our meal had potatoes?????. You couldn't pay me to come back here again. When I told the waiter that I wasn't happy with the meal he said oh well thanks for spending your money on your meal I hope that he works for tips because he will be living in a dumpster very soon.
