Meet the owner

Nathan Perez, a young French entrepreneur, is now at the head of one of the friendliest cafés in the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood: Au Festin de Babette. After discovering that the academic life wasn't for him, he left France to settle in Montreal in 2003. Following a short stint as a realtor, he decided to try his luck in the restaurant business, which is where he finally found his vocation.

Initially an employee at Au Festin de Babette, Nathan quickly made a name for himself through his involvement in the business. He found he really identified with the environment, as it reminded him of his childhood in France. Today, Nathan is the master of the house!

Our ‘seller of little pleasures” (true to its namesake) makes us want to be cold, just so we can go there and warm up with one of its hot chocolates, made with dark chocolate, ginger, cardamom and a sprinkling of cinnamon.

Au Festin de Babette is well known for their coffees and chocolaty delights, but they also serve ice cream. If you’re daring, try the balsamic vinegar ice cream; it’s a wonderful combination of sweet and tangy. It sounds a little out of the ordinary, but that’s exactly what makes it intriguing – not to mention delicious.
