Born and raised in the heart of Montreal's Plateau Mont-Royal, David Lejeune entered university to study history and records management. Bored by the idea of the office job it would get him and unsure what else to do, he carried on making ends meet as a bartender at a popular bar on a bustling stretch of Mont Royal street.
Opportunity came knocking when a commercial space across the street from the bar became available. His employers figured they'd scoop it up and open a new place before competitors swept in. When they asked David to be in charge of their new locale, it was an easy decision.
Since the street is home to a long list of tavern-style lounges, the aim from the outset was to create a different kind of place. “We wanted Bar Plan B to be a friendly neighbourhood lounge with a dash of added class to give it a more upscale feel,” says David. The idea was a hit and now Bar Plan B draws a crowd seven days a week.
