We hit up Rosalie for the 3rd and last stop on our downtown pizza crawl.
We loved the crust of the Margherita: thin and a little chewy but not so much to make it bready. The toppings were not distributed evenly but once you get a taste of everything together the flavours were great.
As for the Caprese, the freshness from the toppings was pleasing but again, no good coverage at all. Since it is a sauce-less pizza, it could have used a lot more tomatoes.
The loud music, dim lighting and slow service at Rosalie reminded us that we need to get there before the focus shifts on to drinks.
Located a stone’s throw away, on De La Montagne, Rosalie offers Italian fare in a trendy lounge ambiance. For Grand Prix, be sure to check out their terrace, as well as Galt, their lounge on the third floor, which features a whiskey bar.
While most places in this space lose steam and end up folding up after a few years, Rosalie recently managed to make the 10-year mark. A couple reinventions and management changes later, this downtown outfit has settled in as a Neapolitan pizzeria, dishing delicious pies out of an imported wood-burning oven.
